A Q&A with Emily about the new book

Emily answers some questions about her new book, How to Talk to a Goddess and Other Lessons in Real Magic—the sequel to The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic.

Why did it take SO LONG for this sequel to come out?

I write slowly, and publishing can be complicated. And, remember, time doesn’t always pass at the same rate in Aruendiel’s world as in ours.

How does Nora find her way back to Aruendiel’s world?

If you’re asking because you want to try it yourself, my advice is: don’t. There are definitely some risks—as Nora finds out.

Are there dragons?

Technically, Raclin, Nora’s estranged Faitoren husband, is only part dragon.

Will Hirizjahkinis return, after being devoured by her demon servant the Kavareen?

That is a tough one. But I am not going to give up on Hirizjahkinis.

Do any major characters die?

Of course.

Will Nora and Aruendiel become romantically involved?

They always have been. They just didn’t realize it.
